Honors is a community and a holistic, enriching experience. More than academic excellence, an Honors education combines global, cultural, and service experiences. Honors courses are smaller in size, allowing for stronger faculty relationships and student discussions.
The Honors Program offers:
Eighty-eight percent of our students report graduating debt free; the remaining students graduate with a fraction of the average national student debt.
Students applying without previously attending college, should apply for the Macaulay Honors College at Baruch. With this application, we will consider you for three programs: Macaulay Honors College at Baruch, the Baruch Scholars program, and for other scholarships and special opportunities, such as Dean’s Scholars.
Students who are currently matriculated at Baruch College or considering a transfer to Baruch College should apply to the Provost Scholars or Inquiry Scholars Program.
The Zicklin Honors Program is also an option to students who are enrolled in the Zicklin School of Business. Students are able to be enrolled in any of the honors programs mentioned above and the Zicklin Honors Program. The Zicklin Honors Program is not managed by the Baruch College Honors Program.
The Baruch Scholars Program admits entering first-year students. Students are considered for this program when they apply to Macaulay. The program provides exceptional academic opportunities, supportive advisement and four-year full-tuition scholarships for in-state students and a generous tuition scholarship for out-of-state students. By mitigating the financial burdens, scholars can go above and beyond to pursue their intellectual interests and career goals through activities that include studying abroad, conducting independent research, and committing to year-long community service. By engaging in the New York community, Scholars can become cognizant of issues related to civic responsibility, social justice and diversity; central issues to a democratic society.
Students applying from High School should file a Macaulay Honors application (not the General Freshmen application) through the City University of New York and list Baruch College as their first choice. All students who complete the Macaulay Honors application will automatically be reviewed for admission to: Macaulay Honors College, The Baruch Scholar’s Program, Dean’s Scholars and general admission to Baruch College.
The Baruch Honors Program does not consider Early Decision or Early Action applications.
No. Students will only be offered admission into one Honors program. If you complete the Macaulay Honors College application, you will be considered for multiple programs (Macaulay Honors College, The Baruch Scholar’s Program, Dean’s Scholars and general admission to Baruch College). Although you will offered admission to only one program, you may be waitlisted for a different program. Be sure to check your admissions letter or inquire with the Honors Office, Baruch.Honors@baruch.cuny.edu.
Each applicant will receive a separate letter of admission from Baruch College.
Both programs are part of the Baruch Honors program and make you eligible for college Honors on your diploma. In addition, Macaulay Scholars fulfilling all Honors requirements will receive a joint Baruch College – Macaulay Honors College diploma. See below for benefits of each program, both of which include tuition for in-state students, an assigned Honors advisor, funding opportunities, an Honors education, access to two study rooms and Honors activities, and priority registration. In addition, Macaulay Scholars complete four Macaulay interdisciplinary seminars, leading to a minor.
Students at Baruch, including those who transfer, can still join the Honors Program in two different ways:
Students can complete both Provost Scholars and Inquiry Scholars programs. In addition, the Zicklin School of Business offers a Business Honors program.
